BAC Calculator Over Time: How Estimates Change

A BAC estimate combines an estimate of alcohol distributed in the body with a deduction for elapsed time. It is a model, not a live measurement of alcohol in the blood.
The calculator applies the entered time to the selected method. It cannot identify the exact absorption peak or tell whether BAC is still rising.
Why BAC may rise after the last drink
Alcohol must be absorbed before reaching peak concentration. Food, drink strength, serving size, drinking speed and individual biology can change the timing.
How the sober-time estimate is produced
The remaining estimate is divided by the calculator’s fixed hourly elimination assumption. Time-to-zero is therefore derived from estimated BAC, not from a separate medical measurement.
- Wrong serving sizes or ABV create a wrong starting estimate.
- Elapsed time must be entered accurately.
- The calculator does not measure individual elimination rates.
- Rounding can make the result appear more precise than the inputs justify.
How to read the estimate conservatively
- Count actual servings and verify each drink’s ABV.
- Enter time from the start of drinking consistently.
- Treat the output only as an educational estimate.
- Never treat “time to zero” as permission to drive or do hazardous work.
